Why The Romulan Scout is Actually Genius
Today we take a closer look at the Romulan Scoutship first appearing in TNGs "The Defector" and later as a science variant in "The Next Phase". these two small appearances tell us a lot about this humble vessel and its place in the Romulan fleet.
While its Dominion war career was less than impressive. its near two decades of dutiful service behind the borders of the Romulan Star Empire tell a different story....

Who Was Admiral Alynna Nechayev?

Often serving as the bearer of bad news or teller of hard truths, Admiral Alynna Nechayev is saddled with a bad reputation. but does she deserve all the criticism leveled at her? is she merely a Beuaracratic 'cog in the machine' ? Or is there more to the woman behind the badge? who is Alynna Nechayev? Music: Scott Buckl...

Captain's Log USNRS Proxima NCC-3110, Reservist Captain Monaghan. Ever since this old museum ship had been reactivated since after the attack on earth. Although me and the officers and crew have seen a few actions. The old Proxima just couldn't take it, could barely hold up against a Jem'Hadar Fighter. But I'm finally glad this war is finally over and me and the crew and officers all but want to resume to what the Proxima NCC-3110 was originally supposed to be, an active museum ship and quasi training ship.

What is a warbird? Well I designed ships myself and had to adapt to the logic of a game and due to the mechanics I was forced to invent my own warbird-style ship (just called it differently). What a warbird is: a capital or super capital assault vessel (mostly frigate size and upwards) with less focus on turrets but rather on frontal (gimbal or coaxial) weaponry, similar to a corvette class sub capital or a fighter/bomber. It's that easy and simple... a warbird ultimately is oversized strike craft that belongs to the frigate, destroyer or battleship class. They also share natural weaknesses of strike craft. Many here said the same in that direction... fragile, highly maneuverable, not necessarily the fastest, but armed to the teeth with frontal direct attack weaponry. Some warbirds style vessels may not even have ANY turrets at all (point defence excluded of course). A popular ship that fights in a similar way: the SSR Normandy (Mass Effect, Stealth/ Recon Frigate) The term "warbird" doesn't really define size or weight like the more common terms do. One could rather see this as a sub category of military ships.

Personally I think those grills are part of the stealth system allowing fo greater heat dissapation etc as it's a scout thus higher levels of stealth are a much higher priority and with the cloak being very power intensive the ship would need a disproportionatly large power core which in turn would creat issues with heat generation etc so having more grills would allow you to operate the core needed for the advanced cloak without cooking your cew. It is known that the Romulan cloak is much better than the cloak on a ship like the B'rel thus it probably a much more intensive system. After all if the Klingon cloak was just as good as the Romulan one why did Starfleet specifically pick a Romulan cloak for the Defiant when a Klingon version from a B'rel would me much more easily availiable (even Nog was able to steal one)

kind of confused on this video cause you say the defiant is not that fast or manoeuvrable but in the show and on star trek online its very quick and very manoeuvrable also you say its expensive but in the show its said to be very basic and is indicated to be easy to build and when its destroyed in ds9 its very quickly replace with the sao paulo I like the interceptor class but i think the defiant class was the attack ship class of Starfleet it fits the attack ship class better than what the interceptor class do but still like the design and idea

I remember rocking the Fleet variant of the Avenger when Delta Rising came out! I prefer the swept up Nacelles personally though. Sadly the game doesn't allow you to use that style when you buy the fleet version for some reason. 🤷 The only thing I don't like about the design is the neck pylons going all the way to the back of the secondary hull. There's just this mass of nothingness from the side on view. The saucer could maybe use a few tweaks as well, but apart from that, great design! Definitely one of STOs better originals!

I'm not following the agurmentation. Its based on a misunderstanding of how phasers get their energy. The Video implies, that the phasers get their energy through the warp core, and because of that, the firepower would not be higher when the ship is seperated, even with 18 phaser arrays (seperated) instead of 10 (unseperated). But the phaser energy has nothing to do with the warp core. The core only produces energy for the warp drive. According to menory alpha, each phaser array gets his energy from its own phaser emitter. So the seperated Prometheus has almost double firepower then the unseperated Version because each phaser array has its own energy source.

Star Trek Picard made note the Bounty was sitting on the bottom of the bay due to the cloak managing to turn on. Which you really would have assumed the device wouldn't operate in water, but the neat thing is the Klingon ship was able to be submerged in water without damaging the ship to heavily.

A Romulan Scout ship is literally the most stupid thing you can even imagine........... The Moment you have cloaking you dont need scouts at all......that are only military concepts from our world . The Romulans can fly were ever they want cloaked ......They can literally fly with a Fleet of Warbirds to find the Enemy themselfs and then Attack..... or call for more and then attack..a Scout is absulte nonsence when you have cloak

Mate, a black hole the size of a marble would put out enough power to power a fleet of Romulan attack ships. Trust me, unless the equipment is incredibly bulky for some reason, they run on singularity, and if scientists today are proven right in 400 years and Black Holes produce Dark Energy, and the Romulans are able to use that as an energy source, they just won the entire Universe, never mind the Alpha and Beta Quadrants.

I think the Sovereign class would have the same issues as the Galaxy class and the Romulan D’Derridex, I.e. the Dominian fighters are faster, more agile and thus would inflict damage. The Sovereign class would do well against larger craft like the Breen ships just as it had done well against the Borg cube in STFC.

I don't know. In Trek sensors can detect ships long before they enter visual range. Which makes me wonder: How can the hull's colour be relevant to whatever means this detecting before visual range is done? Besides that: We shouldn't assume all species see colour the way humans do. There are animals that see into what is infra-red or ultra-violet to human eyes. Granted, humanoids, all be descendants of the same precursors would tend to have a similar range of vision, but what about Tholians, Sheliak and other non-humanoid species? Picking a colour that's "hard to see" is impossible if you're dealing with potential enemies, that don't all find the same colour hard to see.
